Happy 2025! 2024 had a lot going on and was a very rough year for so many people so I’m really looking forward to turning things around in 2025. Unfortunately, down where I live we had a rough start. As most of you know, there was a terrorist attack in French Quarter on New Year’s Day. It is scary. It is unbelievable. And it is unacceptable. As a whole, we need to do better. I always see these things happen on the news, but when it is on your front door it changes your perspective. That being said…. on to happier topics.
I do not make new year resolutions, as they are often empty promises to myself that I rarely, probably never, achieve. When I do not succeed, I beat myself up over and over and that isn’t healthy nor is it productive. I do, however, make goals. I do not always reach the goals I set forth, but that always makes me try harder.
So one of the biggest goals for myself in 2025 is the minimize. I have a bit of trouble letting things go, especially where my daughter is concerned. The idea of getting rid of toys gives me anxiety because I feel guilty for taking her stuff away. I ask myself, “what if she goes looking for it and its gone…,” even though she hasn’t touched it in several months. I also have cabinets, particularly in my kitchen, overflowing with mismatched storage containers, old pots and pans, utensils, etc. My husband and I are also freshening up the house. We just repainted the bathrooms, updated flooring in one (mostly because we had to), painted baseboards and doors to start.
My second goal is to start exercising more. I already watch what I eat because I’ve been on Weight Watchers for a couple years now. As I grow this blog, you will see several more WW posts. I lost a total of 55 pounds since I had my daughter, but I have another 30 or so to go.
My next goal for the year is to save money. Saving money was very hard to do in 2024 due to costs of living and inflation. It is no secret that prices have gone up, while quality and quantity have gone down. Housing is much more expensive as well due to the interest rates and in some cases taxes and insurance, which are very high where I live. In 2025 I hope to borrow less and save more. If I do not have the cash for it then I do not need it.
My final goal for the year is to grow this blog. I have always wanted to start a blog because I enjoy writing, but never really new where to start. Keeping this blog is a way to help keep me accountable for the way I eat. I figure if others are relying on me then I have to post. Also, I just enjoy talking about food. I am from Louisiana after all.
If you have read this entire post, thank you for staying. I look forward to growing in 2025.
